About Us

The Northwest Mississippi Community College - DeSoto Center, financed through the efforts of the taxpayers of DeSoto County, is a 155,000-square-foot structure on a 52-acre site just off Church Road in Southaven. This site, donated by the W. E. Ross family, offers the college opportunities to expand as DeSoto County continues to grow. Students can pursue a wide variety of academic pathways or career-technical programs of study. Classes are offered throughout the day and evening hours. The center offers services such as counseling and advising, financial aid, eLearning support, tutoring and a full-service library in addition to a number of clubs and organizations and fun campus events where commuter students can get involved.

Northwest students have the benefit of the 2+2 Program in partnership with the University of Mississippi at the Southaven location. The associate degree is offered by Northwest, and the bachelor’s degree is offered by Ole Miss in a variety of programs. A new partnership with Ole Miss, Path 4, combines the convenience of the Northwest Mississippi Community College - DeSoto Center with a more traditional straight-line experience. The program offers you a seamless, four-year experience at the Northwest Mississippi Community College - DeSoto Center with exclusive benefits—including scholarship and financial aid advantages—while you complete courses at both Northwest and Ole Miss.
